Punjab Open 3×3 C’ship will be ‘FIBA 3×3 endorsed’

“We thank the Punjab Basketball Association for entrusting us with this unique opportunity. 3BL’s mission is to grow the 3×3 format of basketball across the length and breadth of India. What better place to start our regional initiatives than Punjab, which is known for producing India’s most sought-after basketball players. Thanks to 3BL’s recognition by FIBA, the Punjab Open 3×3 C’ship will also be ‘FIBA 3×3 endorsed’ which means that every player will receive FIBA 3×3 points. This will help India rise in the FIBA 3×3 ranking and aid in its goal to qualify for the Olympics,” Mr Rohit Bakshi, 3BL Commissioner said.

“Punjab has always led from the front in putting a basketball in the hands of its youngsters. We hope that our boys and girls will shine in 3×3 basketball just like they have been doing in the 5×5 format,” Shri Teja Singh, Punjab Basketball Association Secretary-General said.

Besides the Rs 1 lakh total prize money on offer, top participants have the chance of getting selected into the Punjab State teams.

A Referees Clinic will also be conducted on 8th November, to familiarize officials with FIBA’s 3×3 Rules.
