Bengaluru, 27th January 2017:  The 1st Malleshwaram Cup Inter-College Invitational Floodlight Basketball Championship for Men and Women is witnessing the final day of league round action.

All the semifinalists have now been confirmed. The following are the 4 semifinal teams from both the Men and Women sections:

The Championship is being held at the Bharath Sports Union courts, Malleshwaram grounds and being organised by Dr CN Ashwathnarayan Foundation in association with Atsiy! Sports and Malleshwaram’s three iconic clubs YMMA, Beagles and Bharath Sports Union.

St Joseph’s and PESIT men, and RVCE women post wins

St Joseph’s Akhil MU showed his class as a two way player, scoring 25 points and also registering some statement making blocks against Sindhi College, in their penultimate Pool B match. Sindhi kept the match close till halftime, but allowed St Joseph’s to go on a 28-8 scoring run in the third period to concede the encounter 79-50. St Joseph’s is now 2-0, and has joined BMS College of Engineering (also 2-0) as the two Pool B teams through to the final four. St Joseph’s and BMS will face each other later tonight to decide the top team from Pool B.

In the second match of the evening, RV College of Engineering women won a one point thriller over Sindhi College to also qualify to the semis as Pool A toppers. RVCE (2-0) will be joined in the semis by Mount Carmel College (1-1).

The third match of the day was a must win encounter between Presidency College and PESIT men. Coming into this game, both these Pool A teams were 1-1. The match was expected to be close, but PESIT proved superior on this day, easily winning 65-44.
