Pramod of BMSCE extends for a contested left hand layup against Tushar and Siddha of RVCE

In an engaging and drawn out encounter, BMS College of Engineering (BMSCE) held on for an important 60-55 victory over RV College of Engineering (RVCE). The RVCE team comprises three State players, but couldn’t prevent BMSCE from going 2-0 in Pool B with one league match still remaining. Meanwhile RVCE is now 0-2 and out of contention of the knockout rounds.

BMSCE led by double digits early into the second quarter before RVCE guard and former junior Karnataka player Sachin Malanki imposed his will on the match with 6 straight points, bringing his side within 6 points, 17-23 of BMSCE. As RVCE came closer, BMSCE pulled ahead yet again, to enter the fourth quarter with a 46-36 lead. Midway through the final period Sachin got fouled out and a short drizzle interrupted play. That turned out to be a blessing in disguise for RVCE, as it managed to regroup and mount a comeback. Led by some tough layups and clutch freethrows from Gagan, RVCE brought the match within a single point 51-52, before BMSCE’s Sriram and Pragnesh coolly knocked down their freethrows and seal the win.
