Puducherry, 6th May 2016: In an exciting game, defending champions Tamil Nadu beat Punjab 86-84 to go through to the semifinals, here on the 6th day of the 67th Junior National Basketball Championship. This proved to be an early rematch for last year’s finalists. Captain Hari Ram of Tamil Nadu turned up big for his side, with 26 points. Meanwhile, Rahul had 22 for Punjab.  In the second boys quarterfinals game, Kerala continued its fine run, to comfortably outclass Maharashtra 72-46.

In the girls section, Tamil Nadu joined their boys team in the final four stage, making short work of a lacklustre Kerala team. This was followed by a quarterfinals win for Maharashtra over Haryana.

Later in the evening, Haryana boys and Chhattisgarh and Karnataka girls too posted impressive QF wins.
