It was a mixed fortune for Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) Thiruvananthapuram in the finals as their women’s team retained the title beating Kerala Police 61-39, while the men were stunned by Kerala Police with the final score of 80-72 at the 15th edition of the All Kerala Inter Club Basketball Championship here at the St. Thomas Flood Lit Basketball Ground in Kurianoor.

Kerala Police Men now will qualify for the 30th edition of Federation Cup National Basketball for Men and Women to be held in Goa from 9-14th March 2016.

The women final was a close match till the second quarter with the score of 22-20. But the defending champion KSEB, handicapped as their two Internationals Jeena PS & Stephy Nixon who were in Guwahati, took lead to 18-11 at the end of first quarter and lead 40-33 at the end of the 3rd quarter before winning it at 61-39. For KSEB their current International Anjanna PG camein as the top scorer with 22 points   followed by Shilji George with 15, for Kerala police Athira came up with 13 points.

The men’s final was also a closely contested match. Kerala Police took a slender one point lead in the first quarter; they increased it to 42-32 to end the first half. EB men came back strong in the 3rd quarter and reduced the lead to a 3point deficit. Kerala police charged back in the last quarter and held on to their lead and won the match. Sreejith was the top scorer for Kerala police with 28 points and was evenly supported by Jomon Jose (27) and Jijo Thankachan (15) respectively, Ajeeth Suguna was phenomenal inside the paint scoring 22 points.

The championship’s Most Valuable Player awards went to Anjanna PG from KSEB (women) and Jomon Jose Kerala Police (Men).

The trophies and mementoes were distributed by Dr John M Chacko chief patron of Kerala Basketball Association & SBT General Manager HR Sam Kutty Mathews.
