The 3rd day of the 3rd Kirori Mal College (KMC) invitational basketball tournament saw 16 teams fight to reach the semi-finals.
The first match of the day was between KMC and Khalsa college. In a high scoring match which saw both teams score 60+ points, it was some late defensive plays by KMC that made the difference. Lalit Pal’s 28 points were too much for Khalsa college who were lead by Arsh Deep (27).
Second match was between SRCC and St. Stephens. SRCC was led by their point guard Akim (17) while ST. Stephens college was lead by Bhupender Rathee (14).
Third match of the day was between SRCC girls and Ramjas college girls. SRCC won the match relatively easily, they were led by Sahiba (14). Ramjas college girls played well behind the leadership of Manisha (14).
Fourth match of the day between Hindu and Ramjas College was very exciting. With both teams playing an up-tempo game it was full of highlight plays. Both teams shot very well throughout the game, Hindu college was led by Arsh Bhullar (25) and Satyajeet Chhaprana while Ramjas college was lead by Abhishek Tyagi (28) and Aarav. In a very close game where multiple players scored double digit points it came down to the last few seconds when Ramjas was awarded 3 free throws. Rohit Malik converted first two free throws and missed the last one but Aarav’s offensive rebound and layup gave Ramjas a 3 point lead with 3 seconds remaining which eventually won them the match.
LSR girls won against Sri Venkateshwara college girls by 2 points. A hard fought to-and-fro match saw numerous lead changes throughout the match. Tanvi (12) lead LSR while Shipra (15) from Venkateshwara College helped her team stay in the game.
The last match of the day between KMC Alumni and Hansraj college was a one sided affair in favor of Hansraj college. They won by a double digit cushion and were lead by Mohit (19).
