Jayasankar Menon, Chennai, 26th July 2015: Indian Basketball Players Association was formed with the objective of developing fellowship and harmony among basketball players and to look after their welfare.
IBPA comprises eminent Olympians, Arjuna awardees, Dhyanchand awardees, Asian All Star players, former Indian captains, International and National basketball players who have brought laurels to our country. All these players have decided to form the IBPA with the motive of serving the society.
IBPA Tamil Nadu was launched on 15th July 2015 at Race Course Club, Chennai. The event began when Jayasankar Menon (secretary general of IBPA) welcomed the gathering. Thereafter, he explained the objective and future programs of the IBPA.

Shri. Ashok Verghese, Director, Hindustan University and patron of IBPA – TN Chapter offered sponsorship of Rs. 2.50 lakhs to the IBPA.
Shri. Muralinath, International Basketball player said that it was an honor to be part of IBPA and offered his service for guiding upcoming youngsters.
Prasanna Jayasankar, former Indian team captain and Vice President of IBPA has already extended financial assistance to an Arjuna awardee basketball player.
Jayasankar Menon informed everyone that the IBPA has proposed to celebrate the Indian entry (Satnam Singh) into NBA by organizing a Dribblathon at Delhi on 2nd August 2015.
The event is a great start for basketball in the country and we hope that the IBPA spreads to all the states soon.
