In2sports – a grassroots basketball academy based in Delhi-NCR

With the growth of non-mainstream sports in India, there is naturally a requirement for academies that will help kids develop their fundamentals in the sport of their choice. One such academy that specialises in basketball training for kids in the Delhi-NCR region is in2sports.

Founded by sports enthusiasts and basketball lovers, Karan Baweja and Arjun Chopra, in2sports is a grassroots initiative aiming to uplift youth participation in basketball. Their modules imbibe in children teamwork, leadership, communication, self-confidence and competitiveness; skills that they will use in every facet of their lives. The curriculum is based on some of the best youth development programs globally and has been customized to appeal to children and ensure holistic development.

Established in 2012, in2sports has worked with over 1,500 children aged 3-18 in the Delhi-NCR region. Starting off with centres in Delhi, in2sports recently opened its first centre in Gurgaon in Phase 2 at the Gurgaon Valley School. Their ultimate aim is to lend structure to the highly unorganized basketball industry in India and have a basketball training centre within 5 kilometers of every house in the Delhi-NCR region.

The program is designed and executed by coaches certified by FIBA & NIS and associated with the Jr. NBA & BFI. The coaches focus on 4 main aspects of the game; technical, tactical, physical and psychosocial. The athletic philosophy lends itself from the LTAD methodology and the age appropriate strength & conditioning modules ensure that children learn to work on their fitness from a young age.

The academy also recently also launched the in2sports jr. program for kids aged 3 to 6 in Vasant Kunj. Their focus here is more on developing movement fundamentals, motor skills , hand-eye/foot-eye coordination and balance to lay the foundation for any sport the children choose. They plan to introduce children to a new sport every month and use the specifics of the sport to achieve the overall development goals.
