(With inputs from Babykutty): Perfectly balancing academics and sports, Kerala basketballer Anna Rose Thomas, a school girl from Little Flower Higher Secondary School Koratty, garnered a full series of A+ scores in her SSLC Exams. Little Flower is one of the cradles for school level basketball in the southern state. Thomas, who played more than 30 to 40 tournaments a year and hardly missed any opportunity to represent her school managed to find time for her studies too, scoring the maximum possible 1200 marks out of 1200 in her 12th standard examinations. She wants to pursue medicine as a profession.
Interestingly, this is not the first instance this year of a female basketball player doing well academically. Just last week, newly inducted Team Ekalavyas contributor Devishi Sarda from Kolkata scored 95% in her ICSE examinations. Sarda represents her state of West Bengal in the national basketball championship at the youth and junior level. These girls are excellent role models for other young basketball enthusiasts on how to balance academics and sports.
