Sacred Heart Girls Higher Secondary School girls vie for autographs from Olympian basketball player Amarnath Nagarajan.

Olympian Amarnath Nagarajan from Tamil Nadu (who has also been the former Indian National Men’s team captain) was the chief guest at the concluding ceremony of the MRRC Trust summer basketball camp in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. The camp which ran for a little over two weeks was especially organised for the Sacred Hearts Girls Higher Secondary School from 23.04.2015 to 09.05.2015. 37 students in total took part in this camp that was the MRRCT Trust’s first project of the financial year 2015-2016. The camp and the organising Trust is the brainchild of Mr Rameshkumar Dorairajan, a native of Thanjavur and an internationally certified FIBA referee.

Mr K Narayanasami, Manager, Branch Operation, State Bank of India participated as a Special Invitee. The two guests encouraged and blessed all the students for successfully finishing the camp. The Trust sponsored 15 basketballs, t-shirts & shorts for participating students, apart from certificates and mementos.

The girls in the camp are well trained and most of them are passionate about the game; these kind of opportunities through out the length and breadth of the country will only bring out the best talents.. Me and my wife were too glad to participate and motivate the girls, as we have done in many other places earliar too..kudos to Rameshkumar Durairaj and his students.
My appriciation to ekalavyas and Mr.R.Gopalakrishnan who bring out the activities of this nature, which is as vital as anything else..or perhaps more vital than anything else..for the growth of basketball in our country
