Babykutty: The newly renovated Municipal Basketball Court of Alapuzha District Basketball Association is all set to host the third edition of the Cochin Shipyard 3 on 3 Kerala State championship for Men and Women as well as Jr Men and Jr Women. The tournament will be organised by Alapuzha District Basketball Association under the auspices of Kerala Basketball Association at the Municipal Stadium Alapuzha as well the YMCA courts, on 11th and 12th April 2015. The event will also mark the inauguration of the P O Philip School of Basketball by the honourable MP of Alapuzha, Sri  KC Venugopal. Mr Leby Philip, the Regional Chairman of YMCA will inaugurate the two day championship at 5pm. Matches will start from 9 am

32 Men and 20 women teams have confirmed participation in the Senior Division, while in the Junior Division, 13 districts have confirmation. The Championship will be played on a league cum knock out basis.

Additionally, 45 boys and 20 girls under 13 years of age have been selected to undergo special training at the Municipal Stadium.

In the men’s division, the winners and runners up will receive trophies and cash awards instituted in the memory of PO Philip, former President of the Kerala Basketball Association. In the women section trophies and cash awards will be handed out in memory of Kalletharayil KM Chacko, instituted by Dr John M Chacko, Chief Patron of KBA. The cash awards and trophies for Jr Men and Jr Women will be in the memory of K K John, former Chairman of Technical committee, KBA.

The Kerala State teams for Senior National Championship as well as for the Junior Championship will be selected from this championship.
