Mumbai, November 16, 2014: RA Podar College won women’s final of the Indian College Basketball League organized by Basketball Federation of India (BFI) in collaboration with IMG Reliance (IMG-R) at Indian Gymkhana today. In a closely contested final RA Podar came back from behind to register a memorable win as they beat MMK College 48-44. Podar was trailing till the third quarter but made a remarkable comeback in the fourth quarter to win the title and also qualify for the national championship to be held in Delhi in December. Renu was the top scorer for RA Podar College with a total of 16, whereas Sakshi with a total score of 13 was the top scorer for the runner ups, MMK College.
Guru Dutt, coach, Podar College was an elated man and said, “Although we didn’t get off to a great start and were trailing as we entered the fourth quarter, I kept telling the girls to close the points gap and eventually we managed to win the game. It was great game and am very happy for the girls”
In the Men’s final, Jhunjhunwala College beat RA Podar College 57-47. In tightly fought game, Jhunjhunwala held on to their nerves and managed to maintain their lead throughout the game. Sanket was the highest scorer for Jhunjhunwala with 22 points, whereas Vishak scored 18 points for Podar.
