Rose hurts hamstring in Bulls win
Derrick Rose was in Chicago’s starting lineup for the second straight game. He finished it on the bench, however, nursing another leg injury.
Pau Gasol had a season-high 27 points and 11 rebounds, Rose scored 20 points before leaving with a sore left hamstring, and the Bulls beat the Toronto Raptors 100-93 on Thursday night.
Rose, who said he’ll treat the injury with ice and muscle stimulation, also said it was too early to say whether he’d be ready for Saturday’s home game against Indiana.
Jimmy Butler scored 21 and Mike Dunleavy had 14 as the Bulls won for the sixth time in seven games, and snapped Toronto’s five-game winning streak in the matchup of teams with the best records in the Eastern Conference. Both teams are 7-2.
Starting his second straight game after missing four of the previous five with a pair of sprained ankles, Rose was replaced by Dunleavy with 1:53 left, taking a seat at the end of the bench.
Mavs get their biggest win ever
The Dallas Mavericks had no need for another big comeback when playing the NBA’s only winless team. This time, the Mavs built a big early lead that kept growing until they had their largest victory ever, 123-70 over the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday night.
The 53-point margin for Dallas surpassed its 50-point win over the New York Knicks in January 2010. At 0-8, Philadelphia is the only NBA team without a victory. The only time the 76ers have gone deeper into a season before winning a game was 1972-73, when they lost their first 15 games.
Two nights after coming from 24 down to beat Sacramento, all 13 Dallas players scored and all but one had a rebound. Dirk Nowitzki scored 21 points in only 20 minutes to lead five players scoring in double figures.
The 76ers, who scored the last five points to avoid their largest loss ever, matched Utah’s 0-8 start from a year ago. The NBA’s longest losing streak to start a season belongs to the New Jersey Nets, who opened 0-18 in 2009-10.
Results: Sacramento Kings 110 Memphis Grizzles 111, Chicago Bulls 100 Toronto Raptors 93, Philadelphia 76ers 70 Dallas Mavericks 123, Brooklyn Nets 99 Golden State Warriors 107
