October 26: Chicago Bulls fans are looking forward to the healthy return of 2011 MVP Derrick Rose after two seasons marred by injury. With the signing of free agent Pau Gasol, the Bulls are widely considered a strong contender this season. The trio of Rose, Gasol and Joakim Noah has the firepower to take the Bulls on a deep playoff run.
In addition to Gasol, Chicago added key pieces in Doug McDermott and Aaron Brooks in the offseason. The key to the Bulls success will undeniably be Rose returning healhty. Rose is pivotal for the team and if he is anywhere near his MVP form, the Bulls have every chance to contend for the championship.
Derrick Rose is optimistic on his return from injury and is keen on silencing his doubters. He said “I can sit here and say a million times that I’ll be fine. But I think the only way to answer all the critics and everyone asking about me is to actually be on the court and actually be playing.”
The pair of Gasol and Noah will play a crucial role as both players are versatile and experienced. Last season Noah led the league in assist percentage and Gasol was fifth. If they manage to replicate that form this season, the Bulls may have the top frontcourt in the league.
Pau Gasol, who had a terrific FIBA World Cup with Spain earlier this year, is looking forward to upcoming season. “I feel great,” Gasol said recently of his overall state. “I’m healthy now and got some good rest. I really had a nice break from April to August. That helps a body.”
Overall, the side looks to be one of the most talented in the league and if coach Tom Thibodeau manages to make the most his team, they will definitely be a potent force this season.
