Babykutty/Press Release: Kerala State Electricity Board Thiruvananthapuram won the title as they beat reigning champion Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd 93- 76 after leading 44-39 at the half time in the final of the 39th All India Electricity Sports Control Board Basketball Tournament for Men here at the Pattom ,Vyduthi Bhavan Flood Lit Basketball Court in Thiruvananthapuram while Tamil Nadu took the bronze as they beat Haryana Spots Group 69-45.
In the final for Kerala Albin Baby was the top scorer with 37 points followed by Ajeeth Sugunan with 20 points and for Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd Harpreeth Singh top scored with 19 points.
National Players of KSEB honoured
National Players of KSEB who represented India in the current year were also honoured at the closing function with a cash prize of Rs 10,000/. The players include, from basketball: Jeena PS and Stephy Nixon where they represented India at the Senior Asian Basketball Championship in Bangkok bringing the ever first 5th Place and also bronze medal at the Lusofonia Games in Goa. In volleyball, Tiji Raju, Sruthymol N and Alphonza M J who represented the country at the Senior Asian Volleyball Games in Thailand and the World Qualification final round held in China were felicitated.
The trophies, certificates, mementos and medals were distributed by Bharath Bhushan, IAS, Chief Secretary in the Kerala Government.
