Coach Biju D Themman and the three junior India players from Kerala

Babykutty/Press Release: It was an evening to remember during the finals of the 5th JCI All India Basketball Tournament. The u-16 Head Coach for India Biju D Themman and three players from Kerala who had done the State proud by representing India at the recently concluded 3rd FIBA Asia U16 Championship for Women,  held at Colombo (Sri Lanka) from November 23-30, 2013, were felicitated by the organisors.

Biju D Themman  who is currently the secretary of Kottayam District Basketball Association and also the Coach of Mount Carmel School Kottayam has been the coach and mentor for star international Geethu Anna Jose and junior international Poojamol among others. The u-16 India girls team which was placed in elite group  Level 1 of the FIBA Asia tournament, played along with forces China, Korea, Japan, Chinese Taipei and Malaysia to finish at its best ever 5th position.

Along with Mr Themman, the three players of Kerala who were felicitated are Vimmy Varkey who hails from Little Flower HS Koratty, Mayuka KT from Providence Girls HS, Kozhikode and Aneeta P V from Centralised Sports Hostel, Kollam. Mrs Thomas, Director of Arcadia Groups handed over the mementos. Special guests on the occasion included Minister for Sports Thiruvachoor Radhakrishnan, Jose K Mani MP, MLA Mons Joseph, NBA Certified Coach Jim Corrona, former international star C V Sunny and ace footballer IM Vijayan.
