Press Release/Ahmedabad: Defending champions ONGC (Uttarakhand) Men and Tamil Nadu Women will hope to replicate their last years scintillating performance as Gujarat Basketball Association gets ready to host the Basketball Federation of India organised and IMG-Reliance supported 28th Federation Cup National Basketball Championship for Men & Women from 4th to 9th January 2014 at YMCA International Centre, Ahmedabad.
In all 18 teams, 9 men and 9 women will participate in the country’s top most competition played on League–cum–Knock-out basis. The winner will take home Rs 100000 while the first and second runners-up will receive Rs 75000 and Rs 50000, respectively.
The event will showcase some of the best Indian Men and Women International Basketball players turning up for their club/state teams like Vishesh Bhriguvanshi, Yadvinder Singh, Trideep Rai, Amritpal Singh, Narender Grewal, Palpreet Singh, Rikin Pethani, P Anitha, Raja Priya Dharsini, P. S Jeena, Manisha Dange and Shireen Limaye.

Women – Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Southern Railway, Punjab, Kerala, Karnataka, Gujarat, Delhi and Chhattisgarh
About Federation Cup
The Federation Cup, which began in 1984, is held annually and is the most coveted tournament in the BFI Calendar for basketball clubs/state teams throughout India. In the men’s section, the top 8 state teams from the previous year’s Senior National Championship send the winning Club/Unit team of the State/Unit Championship. In the women’s section, the top 8 state teams from the previous year’s Senior National Championship are eligible to participate, along with the Champion team of the Indian Railways Unit.
